100 Hungarian Violins play two shows in Sofia on 30 October

The Hungarian ensemble billed in Bulgaria as the “100 Hungarian Violins” plays two concerts in Sofia on 30 October, in Hall 1 of the NDK (National Palace of Culture), at 17:00 and at 20:00. According to Actualno, the second show was added because of strong demand.

The programme runs about two hours and includes works by Liszt, Brahms, Tchaikovsky and Strauss, alongside traditional Hungarian music, csárdás pieces and solo spots that showcase individual players. A hundred violins play together on one stage.

The ensemble blends the classical tradition with the freedom of Hungarian folk music. One of its soloists said in a recent interview that many of the musicians play without scores, by ear. Tickets for the 17:00 concert are sold through Eventim.bg.
