Swedish band Amon Amarth released their thirteenth studio album, “The Allfather Awakens”, on 2 October through Metal Blade Records. According to zene.hu, the ten-track record arrives four years after “The Great Heathen Army” and is the first with Danish producer Jacob Hansen.
Three songs came out ahead of the release: “Upphaf”, the band's first fully acoustic recording, “Gjallarhorn” and “Eight Legs Of Thunder”. “We Rule The Waves”, presented in 2025, is also on the album. Norse mythology remains the main theme, with Odin in several titles, though the band says it is not a concept album. Singer Johan Hegg said they avoided deciding in advance what the record should sound like.
The 28-date European tour runs from 9 October in Manchester to 15 November in Lisbon. Amon Amarth play Budapest on 2 November at Barba Negra, with Orbit Culture and Soilwork. Formed in Tumba in 1992, the band last played in Romania in July 2024 at Rasnov Fortress, according to setlist.fm.
