Armin van Buuren and Funk Tribu release first collaboration “Nirvana”
Dutch DJ Armin van Buuren and producer Funk Tribu have released “Nirvana”, their first collaboration. According to We Rave You, the track is about letting go of everything around you and being fully in the moment.
The track blends classic trance roots with more contemporary elements: euphoric leads and layered synths over a driving bassline and punchy percussion built for the dancefloor. It pairs an atmospheric, nostalgic side with a harder, high-energy sound.
Armin called his collaborator one of “the most exciting new faces in trance”, saying he gives the genre a fresh, youthful twist. Funk Tribu, a Colombia-born producer based in Berlin, described working on the track as one of the most exciting things in his career and said sharing ideas with Armin taught him a lot.
Funk Tribu recently launched his own label, TRIBE Records, with “Rituals Vol. 1”, and has played Tomorrowland, Dour, Lollapalooza and EDC Las Vegas. Armin recently revived his Rising Star alias and shared his full F2F set with Argy. The pair will meet again on stage: Funk Tribu supports Armin at Factory Town in Miami, and both are booked for EDC Colombia and A State of Trance London.
Armin van Buuren, born in 1976 in Leiden, the Netherlands, is a trance DJ and producer. In October mbuzz reported that he had announced the first two-day A State of Trance festival in the United States, in Los Angeles.
