Arturia releases AstroLab 2.0 update with on-board sound editing
Arturia has released version 2.0 of the firmware for its AstroLab 37, 61 and 88 stage keyboards, Gearnews reported on 6 October 2026. According to Synthtopia, the update is free, and its headline addition is Sound Edit, a mode that lets users adjust the parameters of individual instruments directly from the keyboard.
Sound Edit is reached from the preset menu with a long press on the main encoder or with Shift plus the main encoder. Parameters are laid out over pages of four options each, mapped to the hardware's four macro knobs, so filters, envelopes and glide can be adjusted quickly, including on stage. Gearnews notes that the lack of deeper editing had been the series' main shortcoming until now.
On the content side, the update brings a new sampled acoustic piano built from eight velocity layers and more than 60 new sounds, among them funk and orchestral brass, pop strings, and upright and electric basses; the release notes list 67 factory presets and a new ‘Featured’ list. Sampler and Synthx polyphony have been increased, sampler voice management now rotates, and MiniFreak V5 compatibility has been added. Transposition now shows on the octave LEDs, aftertouch feel has been improved, and the link to Analog Lab and file transfers are more stable.
To install it, users update Analog Lab first through the Arturia Software Center, then connect the AstroLab and start the update from within Analog Lab.
AstroLab launched in 2024 alongside the PolyBrute 12, as Arturia marked 25 years in music technology. The family has since added 37-key and 88-key models, and in July 2026 a silver edition of the 61-key unit arrived at €1,589.
