Brian May says Queen will not tour again
Queen guitarist Brian May has said the band will never tour again, in an interview with The Times, according to Rolling Stone. Queen + Adam Lambert have not performed since their Rhapsody tour ended at Tokyo Dome on February 14, 2024.
May said he made the decision 18 months ago, after a close family friend died while the band was in the United States and he could not simply go home. He cited his wife, his grandchildren and his astrophysics work, adding that maybe “50 years is enough”. He did not rule out an immersive Queen show, inspired by a visit to the Sphere, but said he has serious misgivings about the AI it would require.
Drummer Roger Taylor recently released the solo album “Violence Insane in a Beautiful World”, and Lambert put out “Adam” in July. Archival projects are also planned, starting with the concert film “Queen Budapest”, shot on July 27, 1986.
