Ignite announce album “Still Wide Awake” with double single
Melodic hardcore band Ignite have announced their sixth album, “Still Wide Awake”, due on 15 January, and released two songs from it: the title track and “Guilty Wounds”, according to Visions. It is the second album with singer Eli Santana and follows the self-titled 2022 record. It is also the first album without longtime vocalist Zoli Téglás since the band's 1994 debut. The release comes via the band's own label 93rpm and Merchcowboy.
Santana says the title track is about refusing to accept the status quo and taking responsibility for ourselves and each other. Guitarist Nik Hill calls it classic melodic hardcore in its purest form. “Guilty Wounds” lets the band's thrash influences loose, and Santana describes it as a look at mortality and the search for meaning.
Ignite head out on a European tour with Cancer Bats in November, with dates in Germany from 3 to 21 November.
