Martin Garrix unveils debut pop album “MARTY” with U2, Ed Sheeran and Madonna
Martin Garrix revealed the release date of “MARTY”, his debut pop album, at an exclusive Spotify pop-up show at the start of Amsterdam Dance Event, where top listeners got a first listen of several unreleased tracks. According to We Rave You, the record was more than a decade in the making and was distilled from over 400 songs, putting his own vocals up front and blending pop with dance.
The album is named after his first DJ alias, DJ Marty. It opens with “Catharina”, named after his mother, who encouraged him to learn instruments. The record unfolds as a lifecycle, from his childhood and his rise as a DJ to his vision of the afterlife, with deliberate transitions and key changes linking the chapters. Bono served as a mentor throughout, coaching him on vocal technique. Garrix said the album is about growth and the idea that the love we give does not disappear when we are gone.
The announcement follows a run of collaborations: all four members of U2 on “Fireflies”, Ed Sheeran on “Repeat It” and Madonna on “Bizarre”, from her album “Confessions II”. Garrix also premiered a new collaboration with Spanish singer Aitana during two sold-out nights at Mexico City’s Palacio de los Deportes, as his Americas Tour continues in Costa Rica, Colombia and Peru.
Born in 1996 in Amstelveen, Martin Garrix is a Dutch DJ, record producer and singer. In October mbuzz reported that “MARTY” is due on March 5, 2027, and that his single “This Dream Of You” features his own vocals.
