Max Richter releases new album “While The Flood Rages”
Composer Max Richter released his new album, “While The Flood Rages”, in full on 16 October 2026. According to Clash, which calls it “typically masterful”, the record moves through contrasting dips and curves and carries a spiritual bent at times, notably on “My Body Is My Earthly Ark”.
The outlet describes an often challenging album in which Richter's melodic flair drives a strong sense of world-building, while its internal structures weave together into a whole.
A listening event for the album is set for Friendly Pressure in London on 17 October. Richter has also overseen a crossword book tied to the record, available in limited stock. It features newly commissioned essays by literary critic and Professor of English Anahid Nersessian and by philosopher and author Victoria Trumbull, exploring themes within the work. A digital edition will be available to members of the composer's community.
Max Richter is a British composer born in 1966 in Hamelin, whose music sits within postminimalism and ambient music.
