Metallica performed “Harvester of Sorrow” on 17 October at their sixth show of the Las Vegas Sphere residency, the song's debut in the run, according to Loudwire. The track, from 1988's “...And Justice for All”, came sixth in the set, between “72 Seasons” and “The Day That Never Comes”, and James Hetfield closed it by dedicating it to Las Vegas.

On Reddit, some fans criticised the visuals shown on the giant screen during the song, a man and a goose, which one called a waste. The band again opened with “Blackened” and played “One” as the penultimate song, before “Enter Sandman”. Loudwire notes the set was nearly identical to those of 3 and 10 October, the latter having brought “Until It Sleeps” to the Sphere for the first time.

The setlist also included “The Unforgiven”, “For Whom the Bell Tolls”, “Leper Messiah”, “Hardwired”, “Orion”, dedicated to Cliff Burton, and the traditional cover “Whiskey in a Jar”. Kirk Hammett and Robert Trujillo's spot combined “Siouxsie Sue” and “Just a Bullet Away”.

Metallica, the American heavy metal band formed in 1981 in Los Angeles, released their newest studio album, “72 Seasons”, in 2023. The residency, titled Life Burns Faster, opened on 1 October. Also in October, mbuzz reported that Hetfield's remarks on politics at concerts, made on the Sphere stage, split fans, and that Roger Waters insulted the frontman on a podcast.
