Mike Moran, one of the musicians behind Freddie Mercury’s “Barcelona” album, will appear in Budapest on 7 November 2026 at 19:00, in the Spielberg cinema hall of the Sugár shopping centre, according to zene.hu. The evening is titled “Freddie Mercury – Egy este az opera varázsában” (An evening in the magic of opera).
It is not a Queen tribute concert but a meeting with the audience combining conversation and live music. Moran will talk about the making of the record, Mercury’s ideas and memorable moments from the sessions. The musical part features opera singer and teacher Ducza Nóra and Balázs Mátyás, a student of the Erkel Theatre’s studio, with Moran accompanying them on piano.
“Barcelona” is the album Freddie Mercury recorded with Spanish soprano Montserrat Caballé, bringing rock and opera together in one of the most unusual chapters of his career. According to zene.hu, Moran played a key role in its creation.
The event is organised by Frike Comics and the Hungarian Queen Community, with tickets sold through Tixa.
Mike Moran is a British musician, songwriter and record producer, born in Leeds in 1948.
