MRAK removed as managing director of the company behind Afterlife
MRAK, real name Carmine Conte, has been removed as managing director of Karmat Music GmbH, the Berlin-registered company behind the Afterlife label and event series, according to We Rave You. He built the brand with Anyma as Tale Of Us.
Publicly accessible documents from the Berlin commercial register show that shareholders voted to remove Conte with immediate effect at a meeting on 6 August 2026. Conte reportedly did not attend and sent no legal representation. A notification dated 17 August confirmed the change, with Matteo Milleri, known as Anyma, remaining managing director.
The change concerns management rather than necessarily ownership. Several outlets report that the register still lists Conte as a 30% shareholder, alongside Milleri and Afterlife co-founder Aurelia Ortiz, while Italian company SIPAL S.p.A. holds the remaining 10%.
The move comes amid an internal legal dispute. Karmat Music alleges that Conte shared confidential company documents with SIPAL during a separate legal battle between the two companies, and that a lawyer he instructed accepted SIPAL's claim on Karmat's behalf, leading to a court decision against Karmat in May 2026. The allegations have not been ruled on in court, and Conte has made no public statement.
Carmine Conte is a Canadian musician. Neither artist has officially announced the end of Tale Of Us, while Anyma launched his own label, ÆDEN Records, in August with the compilation “Digital Renaissance Vol. I”.
