Ryan Adams announces new album “Animal” and shares first single “Amethyst”

Ryan Adams has announced a new studio album, “Animal”, due on 12 February 2027 through his own independent label, PAX-AM. The lead single is “Amethyst”.

According to OndaRock, the American songwriter wrote every track and played almost all the instruments himself: guitars, bass, drums, piano, synthesizers, percussion and harmonica. Longtime collaborator Daniel Clarke joined the sessions, adding synthesizers to “Jesus Christ”, “Animal” and “Jesus H” and Hammond B3 organ to “Soon”, a track that also features saxophone by J.C. Khul.

The press notes quoted by the Italian outlet describe a nocturnal, urban record dealing with worn-out relationships, ageing and emotional survival. On “Amethyst”, Adams reflects on the music business and his own place within it, mixing biting irony with a spirit of independence.

The album has ten tracks: “Doesn’t Mean Shit”, “Amethyst”, “Remember Us”, “Pass Me By”, “Jesus Christ”, “Animal”, “Automatic Heart”, “Soon”, “Jesus H” and “Outsiders In”.

Ryan Adams was born in 1974 in Jacksonville and works in rock and country music. His most recent studio album is “Self Portrait”, released in December 2025, according to MusicBrainz.
