Tresor.West in Dortmund to close at the end of 2026

Tresor.West, the Dortmund techno club tied to Berlin's Tresor, will close at the end of 2026, according to We Rave You. The club's team said that over almost seven years it had built a community around a shared vision for the space and its sound, but that this vision could ultimately not be sustained.

Dimitri Hegemann, the founder of Tresor and the club's operator, pointed to falling visitor numbers, rising costs and changing nightlife habits, with audiences increasingly drawn to summer festivals and individual event brands. The club's first run was cut short by the pandemic only months after it opened, and after a relaunch in May 2022 the expected revenues never arrived. Hegemann said a programme focused solely on techno is no longer economically viable.

The venue is meant to stay a cultural space. Event organisers, collectives and hospitality operators with viable concepts can apply until 15 November, and Hegemann said the team is actively looking for someone to carry the place forward. Tresor in Berlin, a cornerstone of a city whose techno culture has been recognised as intangible cultural heritage, continues as normal.

Before the doors close, the club will host farewell events through October, November and December, with Alienata, Phase Fatale and Truncate among the upcoming bookings. Details of the final closing event are still to be announced.
