Union Audio AREA.6 performance mixer is now in stores

Union Audio's AREA.6, a performance mixer with filters, compression and CV control aimed at electronic musicians, is now on sale. According to Gearnews, it is available from Thomann and Sweetwater, listed at $1,299, £1,199 and €1,399.

The mixer was announced in April 2026, when the company expected production units to ship in July at a price in the region of €1,200. Head designer Andy Rigby Jones described it as being about "feel and control in a live context".

AREA.6 is all-analog and works either standalone or as part of a Eurorack rig. It has six stereo/mono channels, each with a tilt EQ for quick DJ-style tone shaping, cue and mute, two aux sends and a combined lowpass/highpass filter with resonance and a drive control that clips the signal for added harmonics. The compressor offers ratio, threshold and gain controls, negative compression for pumping effects and an audio sidechain input.

Control voltage can sweep the filter and adjust channel level, aux and pan, while the compressor has its own CV output. Outputs include a mix out, two aux sends, left and right inserts and two stereo returns.

Union Audio is known for high-end DJ mixers such as the elara.6. Gearnews places AREA.6 alongside other performance mixers including Intellijel's Jellymix and Boredbrain's Xcelon SL.
