Victor Wooten builds a song from scratch with Carl Verheyen and Nick D'Virgilio
Victor Wooten joins guitarist Carl Verheyen and drummer Nick D'Virgilio in a session filmed by Sweetwater, in which the three musicians create a song from nothing. According to No Treble, they walked into Sweetwater's Performance Theatre with no song and no chart and started writing as the cameras rolled.
The ideas and the arrangement are worked out on the spot, with grooves settling in and the piece gradually taking shape. Wooten plays his usual Fodera Yin Yang bass, and No Treble points to the way he reacts to what Verheyen and D'Virgilio are playing.
Victor Wooten is an American bass guitarist, born in 1964 in Mountain Home, whose music spans jazz, jazz-funk and bluegrass. His newest studio album is “S’low Down”, released on 26 August 2022, according to MusicBrainz.
