AlphaTheta unveils HDJ-F9 wireless DJ headphones with 9ms latency

AlphaTheta has introduced the HDJ-F9, a pair of professional on-ear wireless DJ headphones, MusicTech reports. They are priced at £329 / $349 / €379.

The headline feature is SonicLink, the company's own ultra-low-latency wireless technology, which brings latency down to as little as 9ms. SonicLink Touch Pairing connects the headphones to compatible DJ equipment. AlphaTheta says the model is aimed at DJs and producers who want high-quality sound and reliability along with the freedom to move "without the restrictions of cables".

A companion app, Headphones Connect, lets users set the colour and brightness of the Status LED, for instance to match a club's lighting. For long sets, the HDJ-F9 has swivel-mounted hangers and a flexible silicone headband, while the adjustable slider is made of die-cast aluminium. According to AlphaTheta, the headphones have passed international durability tests.

AlphaTheta is the maker of the rekordbox DJ software. In October mbuzz reported that Berlin-based Bitwig had partnered with AlphaTheta, and that version 6.1.4 of Bitwig Studio can now read a DJ's rekordbox library and track analysis data directly.
