Bitwig Studio now opens rekordbox libraries directly in AlphaTheta partnership

Berlin-based Bitwig has partnered with AlphaTheta, the maker of rekordbox, and version 6.1.4 of Bitwig Studio can now read a DJ's rekordbox library and track analysis data directly, MusicTech and Sound On Sound reported on 14 October 2026. The integration lets DJs pull tracks from their existing collection straight into a DAW project to edit, remix or use as a starting point.

The rekordbox library shows up in Bitwig's browser, where tracks can be searched and filtered by artist, file type, playlist and more. Opening a track automatically creates a project matched to its BPM and key, with hot cues, song structure and vocal positions from rekordbox's analysis placed in the project. Users can then rework a track's structure, rebuild its rhythm with BPM-matched loops or add synth parts in the song's key.

The integration runs on macOS and Windows across all three tiers, Bitwig Studio, Producer and Essentials, for users with an active upgrade plan, and requires rekordbox 6.x or later. Bitwig also announced that built-in stem separation is coming to Bitwig Studio this winter.

Alongside the integration, AlphaTheta has launched the Studio Plan, a subscription offering Bitwig Studio Essentials for $7 a month or $72 a year, with a 30-day free trial. The company pitches it as a production experience tailored to DJs.

Bitwig was founded in Berlin in 2009 and released Bitwig Studio in 2014; the software includes the sound-design environment The Grid and supports the CLAP plug-in and DAWproject formats. AlphaTheta, part of the Noritsu Koki Group, began in 1994 as Pioneer Corporation's DJ division, became independent as Pioneer DJ Corporation in 2015 and took its current name in 2020. Its brands include rekordbox, Pioneer DJ and TORAIZ.
