Electronic duo Bicep announced their new album “SLUG” on 20 October 2026. It is out on 29 January 2027 via Ninja Tune. With the announcement they released three new tracks: “Gas” featuring Lauren Duffus and SOARR, “Ultra” featuring Eartheater and Saskia, and “Equarium” featuring Kehina. They follow three tracks shared in September: “Air”, “Lemonder” and “Viper”.
The 18-track album is full of guests, including Clark, George Riley, KUČKA and Sassy 009. Its title comes from the contrast between land slugs and their far more colourful underwater relatives. According to Pitchfork, the duo wanted a “much more varied album” than their earlier records.
The new tracks come with a three-part short film about pigeon fanciers. Stereogum credits director Alex Takács, who says the idea grew from an article about an expensive racing pigeon stolen in Brussels. Pitchfork credits the videos to Young Replicant. Bicep say the films carry the album's themes into worlds outside the mainstream: free parties, pigeon fanciers and demolition derbies.
Bicep are a duo from Northern Ireland, formed in 2009. “SLUG” is their first album in five years, following 2021's “Isles”, and it comes after their “CHROMA” series.
The duo have shows lined up in Sydney, Melbourne and London, including the Royal Albert Hall on 26 November. In 2027 they play New York, Bogota, Barcelona and London. The date closest to Romania is the Snowbombing festival in Mayrhofen, Austria, on 7 April 2027.
