Billy Joel announces Turnstiles 50th anniversary edition with 54 unreleased tracks

Billy Joel has announced a 50th-anniversary edition of his 1976 album “Turnstiles,” featuring 54 previously unreleased tracks. According to Stereogum, the reissue arrives on December 11 via Legacy.

The set includes four CDs and a Blu-ray. It features the “Billy Joel Tonight” concert film, shot at Connecticut College in 1976, a live-album version of that show, another live set recorded at New York's Bottom Line, plus demos, outtakes and early versions. The song “Oklahoma” gets its first-ever release. David Fricke and Billy Joel Archive Director John Jackson wrote the liner notes.

“Turnstiles,” Joel's fourth album, came out in May 1976 and includes “New York State Of Mind” and “Say Goodbye To Hollywood.” Alongside the announcement, he shared a full-band demo of “James” and a behind-the-scenes clip from the “Billy Joel Tonight” recording trip.
