Daft Punk reportedly turned down GTA 6 soundtrack before Justice said yes

Daft Punk were reportedly offered a reunion to soundtrack Grand Theft Auto 6 before Rockstar Games turned to Justice, according to NME, citing the X account Has It Leaked. On 19 October the account wrote that the duo's management had been pitched "a final comeback" with "essentially an unlimited budget", and that Justice were Rockstar's second choice.

The claim is unconfirmed and Rockstar has not commented. When users questioned the post, its author replied that he has leaked Daft Punk and Justice news for more than ten years and that his record can be checked.

Justice created the game's original score and contributed to “Grand Theft Auto 6 – The Album”, which features 34 new tracks. The game's new launch trailer uses their song “Flower In A Hurricane”, featuring Tame Impala, SZA and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard.

Daft Punk, a French electronic duo formed in Paris in 1993, split in 2021 after 28 years. Their newest studio album, according to MusicBrainz, is “Random Access Memories” (2013). In 2026 they marked five years since the split with a new video for their 2005 single “Human After All”, but Thomas Bangalter ruled out a reunion, saying there were still "other things to explore". Fortnite has also hosted a Daft Punk experience featuring 31 songs and moments from the live album “Alive 2007”.
