Elektron's view on unofficial firmware, as relayed by YouTuber EZBOT

Matthew Piecora, known on YouTube as EZBOT, has published a video sharing his takeaways from an hour-long conversation with Elektron, the Swedish electronic instrument maker, about the recent explosion of alternative firmware for its devices, according to Synthtopia.

Piecora says the call covered artificial intelligence and its impact on the company, as well as Elektron's thoughts on hacked firmware - unofficial software that changes how the company's machines work. He also tried some of these unofficial versions himself.

The YouTuber says Elektron gave its blessing for him to share the discussion on his channel, but stresses that it is "NOT an official statement from Elektron": what he presents is his own recount and interpretation of the meeting. Synthtopia notes that unofficial firmware is appearing not only for Elektron gear but for other makers' instruments as well.
