The Bulgarian government has approved an additional 4.8 million euros for the budget of Burgas Municipality, which will host the 71st Eurovision Song Contest in May 2027, according to Eurovoix, citing the public broadcaster BNT.

The money will fund preparations for the contest and support its smooth running. It includes a test event at the Arena Burgas, a trial run of a live music show at the venue, as well as technical preparations. The three live shows are scheduled for 11, 13 and 15 May 2027.

The Black Sea coastal city gets the contest after Dara won in Vienna with “Bangaranga”, written and composed by Anne Judith Wik, Cristian Tarcea, Darina Yotova (Dara) and Dimitris Kontopoulos. It was Bulgaria’s first Eurovision victory, and Dara became the first artist since Salvador Sobral in 2017 to win both the public vote and the jury vote. The country’s previous best was second place, reached by Kristian Kostov, also in 2017. According to Eurovoix, the song climbed quickly in the betting odds after the second rehearsal.

In October mbuzz reported that the Eurovision Village will be set up at the Port of Burgas, close to where the live shows will take place.
