Everything But The Girl announce new album “Blue Reservoir”, share “Young and Dumb”

Everything But The Girl, the duo of Tracey Thorn and Ben Watt, have announced “Blue Reservoir”, due on 19 February 2027 via Buzzin’ Fly/Virgin Music Group, and shared its first single, “Young and Dumb”. According to Consequence, it is their second album since ending a 24-year recording hiatus.

The record grew out of a run of intimate shows at London’s 300-capacity MOTH Club. The residency began in 2025 as the pair’s first performances together in roughly 25 years and grew to around 30 dates. Thorn said the shows took them back to how they started out, built on guitar and voice.

“Young and Dumb” opens with Watt on a Spanish nylon-string guitar before settling into a swaying, bossa nova-influenced groove. Watt bought the guitar at the start of 2026 and said it helped him find “a voice I thought I’d lost”. The video, directed by Edward Bishop from a treatment by the duo, was filmed back at the MOTH Club.

Nine of the album’s ten songs were written on guitar and one on piano. Most of it was recorded live over ten days in July at RAK Studios in London, with longtime collaborators Rex Horan on double bass and Evan Jenkins on drums, plus percussionist Fabio de Oliveira. The tracklist includes “Forward”, “Scala”, “Christmas Gone” and “The Great Unknown”.

Everything But The Girl formed in 1982 in Kingston upon Hull, England. Their comeback came in 2023 with the album “Fuse”.
