Heilung share “Læknisgaldr”, the first single from “Sagas”

Heilung released “Læknisgaldr” with a music video on 13 October 2026 as the first single from “Sagas”, out on 11 December 2026 via Season of Mist. The release collects recordings that core members Kai Uwe Faust, Maria Franz and Christopher Juul made with Ninja Theory for the video game “Hellblade II: Senua’s Saga”. The band calls it an in-between-albums release and a separate branch of its music, showing a cinematic, immersive side.

The material grew out of a ten-day trip across Iceland’s ice caves, rivers, waterfalls and volcanoes, which produced far more music than the game could use. Heilung describe “Læknisgaldr” as a healing song, rooted in an early medieval belief that naming an affliction makes it open to ritual cure. The band says it was recorded using real human bones and breath. Faust ties the video to trauma and to the trembling through which the body sheds built-up adrenaline.

The video was directed by Gornoss and filmed at Borre in Norway and at several locations in Iceland. The deluxe CD and vinyl editions add “Ambient”, a set of eight extra soundscapes.

In October 2026 the group is entering LAVA Studios to begin recording its fourth full-length studio album.

Heilung formed in 2014 in Germany and bring together musicians from Denmark, Germany and Norway, known for their ritual neofolk. Their most recent studio album, according to MusicBrainz, is “Drif”, released in August 2022.
