Kula Shaker re-record debut album “K” as “K-Reinkarnate”

Kula Shaker will release “K-Reinkarnate” on 5 February 2027 via Strange F.O.L.K Records, a complete new performance of their debut album “K”, recorded live and fully analogue by the band's original line-up. They have shared “Govinda” and announced a UK and European tour for February and March 2027.

According to Mondo Sonoro, the album was cut live to two-inch tape at Middle Farm Studios and mixed by Peter Miles and Ash Howes, the team behind “Wormslayer”. Crispian Mills, Alonza Bevan, Paul Winter-Heart and Jay Darlington played the record in its original running order, capturing how the songs have grown over three decades on stage. The sessions also bring back “Shower Your Love”, “Hush” and “Drop in the Sea”, recorded for “K” but left off the final album, plus “She's So Free”, an unfinished recording lost in 1996 and completed in 2026.

“Govinda”, the 1996 single sung entirely in Sanskrit and based on kirtan devotional chanting, was the first song the band played together, on Glastonbury's Krishna stage in 1993, Mills says.

Released in 1996, “K” went straight to number one in the UK, driven by singles such as “Tattva”, “Hey Dude” and “Govinda”. Kula Shaker are an English psychedelic rock band formed in London in 1988. The tour opens on 26 February 2027 in Luxembourg and closes on 20 March at the Troxy in London.
