De Staat to play Sofia's Mixtape 5 on 20 March 2027

Dutch band De Staat will play Sofia's Mixtape 5 club on 20 March 2027, according to WeRock and Actualno. The show, promoted by BGTSC, is part of the tour presenting the band's latest album and its new live show.

Tickets go on sale on 15 October on the band's page and from 16 October online and across the Eventim.bg network. The early price is 20 euros, rising gradually after 19 October. Children up to 7 get in free, while minors need an accompanying adult.

After two years of silence, De Staat returned with a self-titled album, an art installation and a live show called “De Staat Becomes De Staat”, made with collaborators including audiovisual artist Boris Acket and visual artist Tarik Barri. The show premiered at the Down The Rabbit Hole festival, followed by sold-out nights at Amsterdam's Royal Theatre Carré. Dutch outlet 3voor12 called the first single, “The King”, the band's most uncompromising song yet; it was followed by “The Fire”, “Glory”, “The Underdog” and “Freedom”, songs about complacency, division and artificial intelligence.

De Staat is an alternative rock band formed in Nijmegen in 2006, known for songs such as “Witch Doctor” and “KITTY KITTY”. The band has played festivals including Glastonbury, Sziget and Rock Werchter and has toured with The Rolling Stones, Muse and Biffy Clyro. Its last concert in Romania was on 5 November 2022 at Club Control in Bucharest.
