Massive Attack to headline the opening day of Rock Werchter 2027

Massive Attack will close the first night of Rock Werchter 2027 in Belgium on Thursday, 1 July, according to Festileaks. The British band has been announced as the headliner of the festival's opening day and returns to Werchter after a long gap: their previous appearance there was in 2003.

The four-day festival runs from 1 to 4 July 2027, and its bill is filling up gradually. Tame Impala, Sombr, Angèle, Muse, Sam Fender and Turnstile were confirmed before the Bristol band.

Tickets are not on sale yet, but fans can pre-register to be alerted when sales open. A four-day pass costs €320 and a day ticket €142. The 2027 edition also introduces a new two-day ticket, priced at €259, Festileaks reports.

Massive Attack formed in Bristol in 1988 and are among the defining names of trip hop. Their most recent studio album is “Heligoland”, released in 2010, according to MusicBrainz. Their last concert in Romania took place on 20 July 2024 at Bánffy Castle in Bonțida. In September mbuzz reported that band member Robert Del Naja had been arrested in Liverpool under the UK Terrorism Act over his support for Palestine Action, according to Stereogum.
