Patrick Stump reflects on 25 years of Fall Out Boy: “How?!”
Fall Out Boy frontman Patrick Stump marked the band's 25th anniversary with a long post on Friday, Oct. 9, according to Loudwire. It appeared on the band's official Instagram, Facebook and X accounts.
Stump writes that 25 once seemed impossibly distant to him as a teenager, and he asks how he is now 42 and how the band is 25. He says it is hard to believe anyone still wants to listen to what he calls a “silly little band” after so long.
He adds that he feels Fall Out Boy really started when drummer Andy Hurley agreed to join, more than a year in. By that measure, he jokes, the band could celebrate the age again in 2028. Loudwire notes that Hurley replaced Mike Pareskuwicz in 2003. Stump also thanks early drummers Ben Rose and Mike Pareskuwicz.
The singer says he is still surprised that the same four members keep enjoying working together, and that the so-called hiatus does not count, since they remained a band. Loudwire reports that several people at first took the post for a breakup announcement, which it was not.
Fall Out Boy formed in 2001 in Wilmette, in the United States, and plays pop-punk and alternative rock. Their newest studio album on MusicBrainz is “So Much (for) Stardust”, released on 24 March 2023.
