Pink Floyd prepare a 50th anniversary “Animals” edition with two unreleased recordings
Pink Floyd are preparing an edition marking 50 years of “Animals”, their 1977 concept album, and a listing that appeared on Amazon Australia before being removed points to a 22 January 2027 release, according to OndaRock. The project was teased through posters of dogs, pigs and sheep that went up in several cities, including Milan and Berlin, and were shared on the band’s official channels.
According to the listing, the edition would come in several formats, including a double CD and a nine-disc box set running six hours and 22 minutes in total. The second disc of the double CD would carry five bonus tracks: early rough mixes of “Dogs” and “Sheep”, an original radio edit of “Sheep”, and two allegedly unreleased recordings, “Studio Jam”, credited to David Gilmour, Nick Mason, Roger Waters and Richard Wright, and “Young Nicolas Jon”, credited to Waters alone.
The box set would hold three vinyl records, a Blu-ray Audio disc and five CDs: the original album remastered from the analogue master, James Guthrie’s 2018 remix released in 2022, a disc of studio rarities and a 1977 concert recorded at the Oakland Coliseum, spread over two discs. The date, formats and final track list have not been officially confirmed by the band.
Pink Floyd are an English progressive and psychedelic rock band formed in London in 1964. In early November mbuzz reported that David Gilmour had launched a round-the-clock YouTube channel covering his whole career.
