Staind release “Ghosts,” their first new song in three years

Staind released “Ghosts” on 14 October 2026, their first new song in three years, along with a video. For now the track stands alone as a single, but the band say more music is coming soon.

According to Consequence, “Ghosts” is a radio-friendly hard-rock song built on heavy riffs from guitarist Mike Mushok and Aaron Lewis’ distinctive voice, with an unexpected guttural scream from the frontman around the two-minute mark. It was recorded in Nashville with producer Erik Ron, whose credits include Godsmack, Bad Omens and Papa Roach, and the band are presenting it as the start of their next era.

Mushok said he came up with the riff on the spot during a writing trip to Nashville, and that he and Ron put the track together in a single day before Lewis later added his vocal. Lewis said everyone gravitated towards the song, calling it heavy yet melodic and “definitely Staind.”

The single arrives a week after the band announced a 2027 North American leg of their “Break the Cycle 25th Anniversary Tour,” which celebrates their seven-times-platinum 2001 album “Break the Cycle.”

Staind formed in Massachusetts in 1995 and are known for post-grunge, nu metal and alternative metal. Their newest studio album is “Confessions of the Fallen,” released in September 2023, according to MusicBrainz.
