System Of A Down announce 25th anniversary vinyl reissue of “Toxicity”

System Of A Down are marking 25 years of “Toxicity” with a vinyl reissue, according to Visions. The anniversary edition is due on 20 November and contains the original album with revised cover artwork.

It comes with a 7-inch single that has “Johnny” on one side and an etching on the other. The roughly two-minute song was released digitally for the first time in early September; in most countries it had been greyed out or missing on streaming services. “Johnny” was originally the B-side on some editions of the “Chop Suey!” single around the album’s release and was also sent to media outlets as a promo single.

Also included are a specially designed double-sided poster and a corrected track list on the packaging. The hidden track now appears as “Der Voghormia”, where it had previously been wrongly titled “Arto”. The band describe it as a spiritual Armenian hymn whose title translates as “Lord, have mercy”, often used to commemorate the Armenian genocide and also performed in times of mourning. When they play it live, they say, it is to remember the 1.5 million people who lost their lives in 1915.

System Of A Down are an Armenian-American heavy metal band formed in 1994 in Glendale, United States. According to MusicBrainz, their newest studio album is “Hypnotize”, from November 2005. In October mbuzz reported that frontman Serj Tankian joined Tom Morello on stage at Power to the People Festival.
