British band The Mission are working on a new album, their first in twelve years, expected between February and March 2027. According to OndaRock, singer and guitarist Wayne Hussey revealed it in an interview with Dave Ling for Classic Rock/Louder. The record has no title yet.
To mark 40 years since the debut album “God’s Own Medicine” (1986), the band will play four shows at the Forum in London, each with a different setlist. The first night will present the album in full, while the others will cover different periods of their career, with different support acts. Hussey says he likes spontaneity: three or four songs are essential, but the rest changes from night to night.
“God’s Own Medicine” followed the departure of Hussey and bassist Craig Adams from Sisters Of Mercy and went gold in the UK, with the singles “Stay With Me”, “Wasteland” and “Severina”. The second album, “Children” (1988), was produced by former Led Zeppelin bassist John Paul Jones. Hussey recalls that the band was invited to tea at Iggy Pop's home during that period.
The Mission formed in Leeds in 1986 and play gothic rock. Their newest studio album, according to MusicBrainz, is “Another Fall from Grace”, released on 30 September 2016. Of the new record, Hussey says he enjoys making music with his friends and that they are doing it for themselves.
