Doechii revives “Swamp Sessions” with new self-directed song “Bombs”

Doechii has released “Bombs,” a short song that also marks the return of her “Swamp Sessions” series, according to Pitchfork. She directed the video herself. Stereogum lists the title in the singular, as “Bomb.”

Before her 2024 mixtape “Alligator Bites Never Heal,” Doechii shared weekly song snippets and freestyles on YouTube. Several of them, including “Nissan Altima” and “Catfish,” ended up on the mixtape. According to Stereogum, the new track runs about a minute and a half, rides a high-tempo beat with theremin sounds, and ends with what could be a teaser of another song or a beat switch. In the video, Doechii is dressed as a fembot.

Doechii also posted a handwritten letter on her Instagram story, as viewed by Pitchfork. She writes that she spent recent years “relearning Hip-Hop as a student,” and now wants to help evolve it and stretch it across other sounds. She adds that she wants to see Black womanhood at the center of hip-hop and pop.

Earlier in 2026 she teamed up with Lady Gaga on “Runway,” an original song from “The Devil Wears Prada 2.” In August she performed at the first Daisy Chain Fields festival, run by Olivia Rodrigo. Stereogum notes that she is building toward a new album, with no details known yet.

Doechii is an American rapper and singer born in 1998 in Tampa. Since 2019 she has released several EPs and the Grammy-winning “Alligator Bites Never Heal,” but not yet an official debut album. In October mbuzz reported that she heads the Primavera Sound 2027 lineup.
