The Pretty Reckless release new version of “About You” with Dave Grohl and Pat Smear
The Pretty Reckless released a new version of their song “About You” on 16 October 2026, featuring Foo Fighters members Dave Grohl and Pat Smear. The track originally appeared on “Dear God”, the album the band put out in June.
According to Rolling Stone, the new take stays close to the original but gains a distinctly Foo Fighters-like edge. Grohl and Smear both play guitar, adding palm-muted power chords, while Grohl also drums and sings backing vocals on the chorus with Taylor Momsen. Consequence notes that Momsen handles the verses and that she and Grohl trade lines in a call-and-response on the bridge. Momsen said “About You” is one of her favourite songs on the record and that she wanted to do “something special” with it, so she called Grohl and Smear to ask them to “lend their magic”. She described the studio sessions as jamming with friends.
The Pretty Reckless are an American hard rock band formed in New York City in 2007. “Dear God”, their fifth studio album, followed 2021’s “Death by Rock and Roll” and the 2025 holiday EP “Taylor Momsen’s Pretty Reckless Christmas”.
The band recently wrapped a final run of shows supporting AC/DC; according to Consequence, Foo Fighters filled in at two dates The Pretty Reckless had to miss because of scheduling conflicts. Their European and UK tour opens on 9 November in Madrid and ends on 3 December in Glasgow, and in late January they will support Foo Fighters at two shows in India.
