U2 announce new album “Carnaval De Luz” and share single “Silencio”

U2 have announced “Carnaval De Luz,” their 16th album and first collection of new songs in nine years, due on November 13 via Interscope Records. The band also released the single “Silencio,” which has additional production from Ryan Tedder. Its video, directed by Cliqua, was shot in Mexico City, according to Consequence.

Rolling Stone reports that the 12-track album was produced by Garret “Jacknife” Lee and closes with “Torn,” featuring the final vocal performance of Dolly Parton. Brian Eno co-wrote and played synths on three tracks, and Martin Garrix has a writing credit on “Glorify.” Consequence also lists Daniel Lanois among the contributors.

The announcement coincides with the 50th anniversary of the band’s formation on September 25, 1976. U2 also released the EPs “Days of Ash” and “Easter Lily” this year. Their previous album of new songs was “Songs of Experience” in 2017.
