Madonna and Charli XCX release “Danceteria Afterhours”
Madonna and Charli XCX have released “Danceteria Afterhours,” a reworked version of “Danceteria” from Madonna’s album “Confessions II.” The track is out via Warner Records, according to DIY.
It was produced by Madonna, Andrew Watt, Cirkut and Stuart Price. Rolling Stone reports that the lyrics revisit Madonna’s nights at the New York club Danceteria, where she reportedly gave DJ Mark Kamin her “Everybody” demo and gave her first live performance. Charli XCX adds her own club memories, from early shows in London to time with A.G. Cook and Sophie in Los Angeles.
Before the release, the two hosted a Club Confessions party with Saint Laurent during Paris Fashion Week. Madonna is set to perform at the MTV Video Music Awards on September 27, her first appearance there in 23 years. She leads the nominations with 11, according to Rolling Stone.
