Alanis Morissette announces first holiday album, “Good Weather for Immaculate Conception”
Alanis Morissette has announced her first-ever holiday album, “Good Weather for Immaculate Conception”, due on November 6 via Epiphany Music/Virgin Music. Alongside the announcement she shared the lead single, “Beautiful Star of Bethlehem”, a gospel hymn best known from The Judds' recording, featuring Brandi Carlile and Steve Martin.
According to Billboard, the album has 14 tracks, including two new originals, “Christmas on the Dancefloor” and “To An Empath at Christmas Time”. The rest are covers of carols and seasonal songs, among them “O Holy Night”, “What Child Is This?”, “Ave Maria”, “Little Drummer Boy”, Joni Mitchell's “River” and Wham!'s “Last Christmas”. Guests include Joy Oladokun on “Silent Night”, Amythyst Kiah on “Momma Mary”, the British choir Trans Voices on “O Tannenbaum” and actor Martin Short on “Merry Christmas”.
The record follows years of seasonal singles from Morissette: “Happy Xmas (War Is Over)” in 2020, “Little Drummer Boy” in 2022, “Last Christmas” in 2023 and “O Holy Night” in 2024. Speaking on Call Her Daddy in September, she called the album “a labor of Christmas love”. According to Rolling Stone, she joined Olivia Rodrigo at the Daisy Chain Fields festival in August to perform “Ironic”, and sang the Canadian national anthem at the 2026 World Cup opening ceremony.
Morissette is a Canadian-American singer born in Ottawa in 1974, with 11 studio albums. Her newest, “The Storm Before the Calm”, came out in June 2022.
