Charli XCX to make a cameo in Martin Scorsese's next film
Charli XCX will make a cameo in “What Happens at Night,” Martin Scorsese's next film, Pitchfork reports, citing Variety. The psychological thriller stars Jennifer Lawrence and Leonardo DiCaprio as a married couple who travel to a small European town to adopt a baby. The film is an Apple and StudioCanal co-production and has no release date yet.
The singer and the director have crossed paths before: Scorsese appears on the cover of her album “Music, Fashion, Film,” alongside John Cale and Marc Jacobs, one big name for each discipline in the title. On the album's track “Camera,” Charli wonders whether it is foolish to try to be “a girl on the screen” as she nears 34.
According to Pitchfork, she has also appeared in Gregg Araki's “I Want Your Sex,” Pete Ohs' “Erupja” and “The Moment,” Aidan Zamiri's mockumentary about her “BRAT era.” She wrote the soundtrack for Emerald Fennell's “Wuthering Heights,” which included her first collaboration with John Cale, “House,” and co-wrote music for A24's “Mother Mary.”
Charli XCX is a British singer born in 1992 in Cambridge. “Music, Fashion, Film” was released on 24 July 2026. In September, mbuzz reported that she and Madonna had released “Danceteria Afterhours,” a reworked version of “Danceteria” from Madonna's album “Confessions II.”
