Elton John begins final Farewell Yellow Brick Road shows in Mexico City

Elton John played the first of two concerts at Estadio Banorte in Mexico City on Friday, Oct. 2, closing out his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour, which began in 2018. According to Billboard, it was his return to the stadium 34 years after his debut there, and his first time facing Mexican fans in 14 years.

Organizers put attendance at over 60,000. Wearing a white suit and red glasses, the 79-year-old said he wanted these last two shows to thank the audience for its support. The two-hour concert had a 24-song setlist including “Funeral for a Friend/Love Lies Bleeding,” “Bennie and the Jets,” “Tiny Dancer,” “Honky Cat” and “Rocket Man.”

The British singer-songwriter, born in 1947, released his latest studio album, “Who Believes in Angels?”, on April 4, 2025.
