KORG gives first public look at phase8 Companion App at ADE Lab
KORG will give the first public look at its upcoming phase8 Companion App on 23 October at ADE Lab, part of Amsterdam Dance Event, according to Magnetic Mag. The software adds a visual way to work with the parameters and sequencing of the phase8, the company's eight-voice acoustic synthesizer.
The session, titled “Live Sequencing and Performance Technique with phase8”, runs on Friday, 23 October, from 4:00 PM to 4:45 PM in Room 2 at Het Ketelhuis. It is hosted by Lukas Hartmann, Product Lead for phase8, and Iarla Scaife, the instrument's Lead Embedded Software Engineer. Instead of playing prepared sounds, the two will build a working electronic music rig from scratch, combining the phase8 with other hardware while exploring sequencing and performance techniques. A Q&A with the development team follows.
From 21 to 23 October, KORG is also exhibiting at the Gear Test Lab inside Het Ketelhuis, at Pazzanistraat 4 in Amsterdam's Westergas district, with synthesizers, effects processors, drum machines and portable DJ equipment available for attendees to try. The exhibition is open from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM each day, and this year the Gear Test Lab is free to the general public, with no conference pass required.
