Lacuna Coil are celebrating the 20th anniversary of their album “Karmacode” with the double single “Fragile XX/I Wish You Were Dead (SWARM Remix)”, according to metal.de. “Fragile XX” is a reworked version of “Fragile” from “Karmacode”, while the second track is a SWARM remix of “I Wish You Were Dead”, taken from the band's current album, “Sleepless Empire”.
Singer Andrea Ferro said “Fragile” has always been a live favourite and was among the very first songs the band played on stage, even before “Karmacode” came out. Its message of accepting life's vulnerability and never giving up is something the band still relates to. Ferro admitted that reworking such a beloved song felt daunting at first, especially for Maki, the band's main songwriter, but the band approached it as a tribute and are happy with the result. In his words, “Fragile XX” sounds like Lacuna Coil in 2026, and they look forward to playing it live for the next 20 years.
SWARM described himself as a longtime fan who first heard “Karmacode” in the mid-2000s and said the album helped shape his musical taste. He said he is careful about accepting remixes and never does them just for the sake of it, aiming to respect the original while turning it upside down in a tasteful and “aggressive” way. He said he is very proud of the result.
Lacuna Coil are an Italian metal band formed in Milan in 1994, known for gothic and alternative metal. “Sleepless Empire” was released on 14 February 2025, according to MusicBrainz.
