Lorde wears “Free Palestine” jacket amid Ed Sheeran-Macklemore row
Lorde has posted a photo of herself in a white jacket reading “Free Palestine”, trying to tag Robert Kraft in the image, according to NME. The move comes amid the controversy over Ed Sheeran’s “Loop” tour, from which Macklemore was removed after a speech calling for a free Palestine.
The one-of-a-kind jacket, which appears to be decorated in her own handwriting, is the one she wore at Austin City Limits two days earlier. She shared no caption, only a tag for @mr.robertkraft, a fan page for the owner of Gillette Stadium and the New England Patriots.
Kraft had called Macklemore’s speech “deeply offensive and hurtful to the Jewish community”. Macklemore has since donated his full $1 million tour earnings to six organisations supporting Palestinians and announced a “Free Palestine Tour”, which has sold out. Sheeran’s band and other support acts withdrew in solidarity, and Sheeran apologised for “making mistakes”.
