PINS announce “If I'm Alive Now, Then I Was Dead”, first album in six years

Manchester band PINS have announced their new album “If I'm Alive Now, Then I Was Dead”, out on 12 February via their own imprint, Haus Of Pins. It is their first album in six years and follows “Hot Slick”, released in 2020.

The record is trailed by the single “All Over”, out now. According to Clash, the song blends girl-group touches in the vein of The Ronettes with the raw drive of The Stooges, with the band returning to their rock roots. It was recorded at Resonance Studios in Stockport and engineered and mixed by Joel Patchett, whose credits include King Krule and Let's Eat Grandma.

“All Over” will also be released on a limited run of 300 clear teardrop-shaped vinyl records, paired with a new track, “No Tears”, as a double A-side. The vinyl is due on 3 November.

The band said the song began as a demo about desire and was one of the most complete songs they had when they started work on the album. The structure was already in place, so the job was mainly capturing the sounds. They describe its energy as driving and “a little angular”.
