Sia sells 50% stake in her catalog to Pophouse for $180 million
Sia has sold a 50 percent stake in her music catalog to Swedish investment firm Pophouse for $180 million, Rolling Stone has confirmed. TMZ reported the sale first. Pophouse was co-founded by Abba's Björn Ulvaeus, and an official announcement is expected soon.
According to a person familiar with the deal cited by Rolling Stone, Sia and Pophouse are preparing an immersive digital avatar show built around her songs, both as a performer and as a writer. It is reportedly at least a couple of years from debuting and may visit select cities, though planning is at an early stage.
Pophouse's stake covers publishing and master recording rights but not Sia's name and likeness. An insider estimates her songs earn about $18 million a year in royalties. The firm also developed Abba Voyage and has acquired the Kiss catalog and stakes in the catalogs of Tina Turner and Iron Maiden.
