Spotify reaches 788 million users as Q3 2026 revenue rises 16%

Spotify ended the third quarter of 2026, at the close of September, with 788 million monthly active users, according to its financial results as reported by We Rave You. The platform added 11 million users during the quarter, an increase of 11% year-on-year.

Of those, 306 million are premium subscribers, after six million net new paying users joined in the quarter, up 9% on last year. The ad-supported tier grew 12% to 499 million listeners.

Quarterly revenue rose 16% year-on-year to €4.97 billion. Premium revenue climbed 17% to €4.49 billion, while advertising grew 10%. Operating profit came in at €672 million, €2 million above the company's own guidance, and premium subscribers beat the forecast by one million. Average revenue per user rose 9.3% to €4.95.

Europe accounts for 36% of premium subscribers, North America for 25%, Latin America for 24% and the rest of the world for 15%. Across all listeners, the rest of the world now makes up 38%, up from 36% a year earlier and 26% in Q3 2022. Europe's share has dropped to 25% and North America's to 16%, even though user numbers in both regions have grown.

In October, mbuzz reported that Spotify had removed more than 50 million songs it labels “AI spam” from its recommendations, and that co-CEOs Gustav Söderström and Alex Norström said releasing an AI remixing tool would take time because it depends on artists' consent.
