Taylor Swift performs “The Fate of Ophelia” live for the first time at Academy Museum Gala

Taylor Swift gave the live debut of “The Fate of Ophelia” on 17 October at the Academy Museum Gala in Los Angeles. The event raises funds for the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, and this year it honored John Carpenter, Colman Domingo and Charlize Theron.

According to Stereogum, Swift played a four-song set: “Blank Space,” then “The Fate of Ophelia,” followed by “I Knew It, I Knew You,” the song she wrote for Toy Story 5, and “Love Story.” The set leaned on bigger hits, even though on 16 October she had released alternate versions of “Patient Zero,” the current No. 1 song in the US.

She was introduced by Conan O'Brien, who voices the potty training toy Smarty Pants in Toy Story 5. He likened her to the whole of The Beatles, calling her “John, Paul, George and Ringo all in one.” Later in the evening Swift posed for photos with Sabrina Carpenter and Cara Delevingne. Other musicians on the red carpet included Teyana Taylor, A$AP Rocky, Tinashe, Rosé, Janelle Monáe, Clairo, Maya Hawke, Camila Cabello, Jennifer Hudson and Common.

Taylor Swift is an American singer-songwriter born in 1989 in West Reading, working across pop and country. Her newest studio album is “The Life of a Showgirl,” released on 3 October 2025. In October mbuzz reported that the album had logged a 14th week at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, giving Swift her 100th career week at the top, a mark also reached by The Beatles.
