Technics unveils the SL-1210MKX turntable at Amsterdam Dance Event

Technics has unveiled the SL-1210MKX, a new professional direct-drive DJ turntable in its SL-1200 series, at Pacific in Amsterdam during Amsterdam Dance Event 2026. According to Electronic Groove, the launch marks 55 years of the series. The model will be available from January 2027, with a recommended retail price of $1,699 or £1,299.

The turntable was developed with input from DJs and sound engineers. It has a heavier, balanced chassis meant to better resist external vibrations in clubs and live settings, while redesigned isolation feet add stability and feedback isolation.

The pitch control has been extended, with a dedicated ±4% range for more precise beatmatching and a ±50% range for wider tempo changes. Other features include a quieter reset switch, a coreless direct-drive motor, adjustable start-up torque and brake speed, 78 rpm playback, reverse play, a polished silver tonearm and a black finish.

Stefanie Baron, manager of Technics DJ Channel Europe at Panasonic Consumer Europe, said the company worked closely with professional DJs and sound technicians to understand the challenges they face. She called the SL-1200 "an industry standard for more than five decades".

In October, mbuzz reported that the SL-1210MKX follows the SL-1210MK7, which came out in 2019.
