Thom Yorke says Radiohead reunion tour caused a “massive” crash in confidence

Thom Yorke has said Radiohead’s 2025 reunion tour was followed by a “massive” crash in his self-confidence that took him months to recover from. He made the remarks in a conversation with Harry Styles for Rolling Stone, reported by NME. He said he enjoyed the shows themselves, but his response afterwards was to crash.

Yorke said he only felt fine again when he returned to work on his own record two months later. He described a very strange relationship with his past work and called the Academy Fellowship at the 2026 Ivor Novello Awards, presented to him by Styles, deeply confusing. He said looking forward is easier to believe in because it is new. He praised Styles’ speech at the ceremony as honest and personal, in contrast to occasions that feel like part of a business.

Recalling the opening night in Madrid, when the band walked through the crowd to reach the stage, Yorke said he wanted to burst into tears before a note was played. The band played 20 arena dates across Madrid, Bologna, London, Copenhagen and Berlin in November and December 2025, and will play 21 shows in Australia and Japan in 2027. Yorke added that the band have not been in the studio together for a long time. At the Ivors, according to NME, he also said he was making a solo album with producer Sam Petts-Davies.

Thom Yorke, born in 1968 in Wellingborough, is the singer of the English band Radiohead. His latest studio album, “Tall Tales”, came out on 9 May 2025.
