Weezer to receive the Legend of Live award at the 2026 Billboard Live Music Summit
Weezer will receive the Legend of Live award at the 2026 Billboard Live Music Summit, Billboard announced on 15 October. The event takes place on 10 November at the 1 Hotel West Hollywood, where the band will also sit down for a conversation with Billboard co-chief content officer Jason Lipshutz.
The award honours artists who have made lasting contributions to the live music and touring business. Past recipients include Usher, John Mayer, George Strait, Journey, Rush, Ozzy Osbourne and Elton John. Usher was honoured last year after his Past Present Future Tour, which ran for 83 concerts across 2024 and 2025. Hilary Duff has also been announced as this year's Outstanding Pop Tour of the Year recipient.
Weezer have just wrapped the North American leg of “The Gathering Tour”, which opened in September in Sacramento, California, and ended on 11 October in Orlando, Florida, with Silversun Pickups, The Shins and Taking Back Sunday as support acts. The arena run promoted the self-titled “Weezer”, known as the Gold Album, released on 21 August. According to Billboard, it is the band's 20th album; it reached No. 35 on the Billboard 200 and No. 6 on Top Rock Albums.
The Grammy-winning Weezer formed in Los Angeles in 1992 and play alternative rock with garage and indie rock leanings.
