Zara Larsson becomes a fairy and a mermaid in her “Blue Moon” video
Zara Larsson released the video for “Blue Moon” on 15 October, directed by Charlotte Rutherford. According to Rolling Stone, the Swedish pop star walks down a dirt road, kicks off her heels and dances as she sings, surrounded by animated hearts and butterflies.
The choreography moves on to a bus stop and a wet, empty street, and later she grows fairy wings before turning into a mermaid. Infomusic noted the video's heavy use of glitter and dance routines, drawing on Disney princesses and Barbie dolls.
“Blue Moon” is the fourth single from “Midnight Sun”, her fifth album, released last year, following “Pretty Ugly”, “Crush” and the title track.
In a recent Musicians on Musicians conversation with Robyn for Rolling Stone, Larsson said “I do think the moment is now.” She explained that starting out so young left her feeling powerless for a long time, but that she now decides what she writes and who she works with. She added that she cares less about what the public wants and does not believe a pop star has an expiration date.
Zara Larsson was born in 1997 in Solna, Sweden, and works in dance-pop and electropop. According to MusicBrainz, “Midnight Sun” came out on 26 September 2025.
